What is the best antioxidant supplement?

None may use that word as a claim. 'Antioxidant' on its own is a non-authorised claim in Great Britain. The authorised wording is that a nutrient contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and seven nutrients in VH Life carry it: vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, manganese and riboflavin. The berry, green tea, turmeric and astaxanthin in VH Life are often sold as antioxidants; none has an authorised GB claim, so we make none for them.

Updated . Written by Vita Hydra Life Ltd, the UK company that makes VH Life. Health claims checked against the GB Nutrition and Health Claims Register (19 May 2026 edition).

What does the NHS say?

The NHS says most people get all the vitamins and minerals they need from a varied and balanced diet, with vitamin D in autumn and winter as the main exception. Source: NHS: Vitamins and minerals.

Which authorised claims come closest?

In Great Britain a food or supplement may only make health claims that are on the GB register, worded as registered, for nutrients at 15% of the NRV or more per portion. These are the registered claims that touch this question and apply to VH Life:

Authorised GB claims on this topic that apply to a VH Life sachet, 19 May 2026 edition
Nutrient, in one sachet Authorised claim, as registered
Copper, 1mg, 100% NRV Copper contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
Manganese, 3mg, 150% NRV Manganese contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
Riboflavin, 1.4mg, 100% NRV Riboflavin contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
Selenium, 70µg, 127% NRV Selenium contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
Vitamin C, 900mg, 1,125% NRV Vitamin C contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
Vitamin E, 12mg, 100% NRV Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
Zinc, 15mg, 150% NRV Zinc contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress

Health claims apply as part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle; the pattern of use is one sachet a day.

Where does VH Life fit?

VH Life is a UK-made food supplement: one 11.8g berry sachet a day in cold water, with 87 active ingredients including 26 vitamins and minerals with declared amounts. It carries the claims above because it provides those nutrients at qualifying levels; it makes no claim beyond them. On subscription VH Life is £49.99 for 28 sachets every 4 weeks, which works out at £1.79 a day. There is also a 7-day trial (7 sachets, £12.99, one per customer) and one box of 14 sachets for £34.99, with free UK delivery. See the full label or the ingredients index.

If you take any medicine, ask your GP or pharmacist first. If you take warfarin, ask your anticoagulant clinic first: the sachet contains vitamin K, cranberry, co-enzyme Q10, ginkgo, turmeric and ginseng.

Questions people also ask

Are blueberries antioxidants?

Blueberries contain polyphenol pigments, but 'antioxidant' is a non-authorised claim and no berry has an authorised GB health claim. VH Life contains blueberry powder and makes no claim for it.

What does 'protection of cells from oxidative stress' mean?

It is the register's authorised wording for the role certain nutrients play in normal cell function. It is not a claim about ageing, disease or longevity.

Which nutrient in VH Life has the most authorised claims?

Zinc, with 18, followed by vitamin C with 15.
